Do you know what an Accountant does?

The Accountant

I must tell you about a conversation I had with a very successful retired accountant.

Now this “gentle-man” is extremely soft spoken. He is very kind and easy going. Even if I really tried to imagine it I would not be able to invision him get angry or raise his voice. That is why our conversation was so UNBELIEVABLE!

The conversation started when we asked about his retirement. He went on to tell us that he loved being retired. He did indeed work part time but he was now in a position to only work when he wanted to. He only picked jobs that he wanted to work on.

He went on to tell us that the easy ones were not his favorite. He really enjoyed the challenging ones. The ones that you really had to look hard to find why the figures were NOT adding up. Then after finding, and correcting the mistakes… getting things back on track.

He truly loved his job. It was what he said next without missing a beat in telling about his job that was so shocking. He got a big smile on his face and said, “nothing makes my day more than getting someone fired or getting someone thrown into jail!!  Coming from the mouth of this kind, soft spoken. gentle-man, this statement was such a SHOCK!

I told him I couldn’t believe he said that. He went on to tell us that is what accounts do. We find out what is wrong. It just makes it better if I am able to catch someone who was trying to get away with something.

Who knew?
Not me!!

How can this happen?

Are you on Drugs?  Last weekend a 16 year old boy was found dead in one of our parks. As more information is released we are learning that he and 2 friends were out for a night of partying. Something went terribly wrong.

Yes, drugs were involved. Rather than seeking medical help when the apparent drug over dose happened these 2 boys left their 16 year old friend in a park.

Can you imagine?

Being scared and panicking is one thing but then also having to try to deal with what is happening in front of their eyes while being under the influence of drugs.

Clearly wrong choices were made… many wrong choices were made.

How sad for all involved. The child who died was an honor student. He has a new baby on the way that will be arriving in just a few months. He will grow up not knowing his father.

The 2 boys will grow up with the guilt of  discarding their friend as if he were trash.

How could this happen?

Have you seen this animal commercial?

animal abuse Every time I hear the haughty music on TV I get a lump in my throat and an ache in my heart. It is the ad for the Humane Society of the United States. It features pictures of abused, starved and mistreated animals.
The spokeswoman tells about dog fighting, puppy mills, torture, over population and death. I simply must turn away. I cannot stand to either listen to or watch this commercial.

Regular readers of my blog know that I LOVE animals. I am sure this ad tugs at the heart and the purse strings of many.

My very young, great niece takes her piggy bank to her father with tears in her eyes pleading with him to, “please send this money to the animals”, when ever she see this commercial.

The marketing firm can be commended for a great commercial…it is one of the most heart wrenching I have ever seen.
Click to watch.

Keep Smiling

SMILE Smiling is infectious,
you catch it like the flu,
When someone smiled at me today,
I started smiling too.
I passed around the corner
and someone saw my grin.
When he smiled I realized
I’d passed it on to him.
I thought about that smile
then I realized its worth,
A single smile, just like mine,
could travel round the earth.
So, if you feel a smile begin,
don’t leave it undetected
Let’s start an epidemic quick,
and get the world infected!

Keep the smile going by
sending this on to a friend.
Everyone needs a smile!!!
