Were you SCAMMED? I Was!
Were you SCAMMED? I was!
A few weeks ago I came across an ad for a Google Business Kit.Cost was free but shipping and handling was $2.95 for the CD. Sounded like a good idea. We all hear about people who make money with Google. So for $2.95 I would get a bit more info about how to do that. Sounded like a real bargain.
Yesterday I got a very unusually voice mail. The guys name was Ray and heasked me to call him back about some Google charges. Well to me that really
didn’t make any sense so I admit.. I was curious. So I called Ray.
but he went on to refresh my memory about what I had signed up for. While on the phone with Ray I was able to pull up my credit card statement and sure enough there was the charge for $2.95. Ray said, “do you not see another for $69.90?” Right there in front of me was a charge for $69.90.
within 7 days you are charged $69.90 MONTHLY. I have found a very lengthy
post about this and I see that I was not the only one who has been taken.
Now back to Ray and his phone call to me. Ray did have a reason to call and I thanked him very much. He alerted me to the fact I had been scammed. But Ray also had a legitimate business opportunity to tell me about, if I was interested.
Well that is the KICKER!
This scam company goes one step further. It now sells your information.
Who besides Ray has your information? What ever company Ray works for calls all of the people who are from that Scammed List…. People Just Like Me.
Calls them to alert them and then offers them an alternative. Is that Brilliant Marketing or what?
There are some that say buyer beware. I am just trying to give all a heads up for what seems to be a very nice offer. In fact it is a STEAL!
Keeping it Real,
Cindy
This is what appears on my Credit Card.

Hello Cindy
I get atleast one of those emails a day wanting me to sign up for the Google Business Kit and although it seemed like a great investment, for some reason I stayed away from it.
This tactic is used by numerous well-known “gurus” and I think it’s a nasty way to make money.
One thing I learned about working online and making a purchase (usually through PayPal) is to take a look at the details before hitting the submit button.
One well-known “Guru” with initials CM usually gives you a great package for “free” but you have to go through the payment process, and if you aren’t paying attention, you get charged $97 a month if you don’t unsubscribe or cancel right after getting his “free” download.
I’m so glad that some of these “great deals” are being brought into the open and these scammers are getting recognized for what they do.
Thanks so much for posting this Cindy.
This is another “great deal” that’s going into the trash bin.
To your success,
Vince
Hi Cindy,
Thanks for leting us all know about those scammers,I had my share of those guys, and I have lost thousands over the years not only a couple hundred bucks.being newbie at computer/internet stuff is very easy to get scammed by those pro scammers…
It is great that all of us who were scammed let everybody know who are the bad guys,so they don’t stay too long out there hurting others.
It is best to report them immediately to FBI as soon as you can.
Thanks again for great post.Just wonder if there is anyone from Ontario,Toronto area who is in NPN program,I would like to meet some members that are near me.Thanks.
Ivan
Hi Ivan sorry to hear you were one of the many that was scammed. But I guess this is how we learn. THE HARD AND EXPENSIVE WAY, Perhaps that it why they call it paying our dues.
I am sure there are many NPNers from Ontario,Toronto area.
I hope they see this and respond.
Cindy
I got a wall post with a link from a friend through facebook. It was a personalized message and the link was to an article that appeared to be from my local newspaper’s website. It told about a couple who lived in my area and how they made extra money through Google. Yesterday I sent for the kit. When I thanked my friend for the article, she said someone had hacked into her facebook account and sent that message from her to several of her friends- each with their own link to an “on line edition of their local paper”. She contacted Facebook and they told her to change her password which she did. She also posted a message on her profile for all to see that she didn’t send out the Google message/link. The friends she knows got the message never got that notification either.
Anyway, I called and canceled. I also canceled my credit card and reported the scam to the FBI- thanks for the link and suggestion, Cindy. I got a call today from “Ray”- my caller ID didn’t display a number. He tried to talk me into more products, even after I told him I believed I was scammed and canceled my account. Very pushy- “maybe you won’t feel like your being scammed with this better, brand new software we now offer”- what a tool. I’ll let you know if I ever hear from the FBI. I did get an email with a case number from them. I know they have bigger fish to fry-but I feel better taking it to the top!
Thanks again for the information.
Stacy, Thanks for posting this,
The Ray that called me was very nice. Not pushy at all. In fact if I had been looking for an online business and I had liked better what he was talking about I would have thought more about joining him.
I am sorry that you got a pushy one.
I must tell you, I see the ad that I responded to on FaceBook all the time.
It is the Gal holding the small child on her hip. I will make a note of the caption the next time I see it.
The more people we can make aware of this the better.
I do appreciate your post.
Cindy
